For us, there's a scent that means "Festa di San Rocco": it's the smell of a freshly fried tortèl di patate. It's the dish that everyone—locals and guests alike—gladly lines up for, chatting while we wait for our golden, crispy portion.
But the festival is so much more. It's the sweet aroma from our dessert stall, where you can choose between a slice of strudel, ricotta cake, a freshly made krapfen, or a classic Linzer torte. It's the sound of children's laughter as they play old-fashioned games.
And when evening falls, the square comes alive with live music from a local band. Together, we enjoy the silent fireworks display, which paints lights in the sky without disturbing the peace of our mountains.
It's one of Fai's most heartfelt festivals, organized by the volunteers of Cortalta. We look forward to sharing it with you.
