CROZ DELL'ALTISSIMO

At the foot of the imposing rock face from which it gets its name, the Rifugio Croz dell’Altissimo is located on the main access route to the Brenta Group along its eastern slopes. The mountaineering pioneers who first explored this Dolomitic Group through the Bocca di Brenta in the second half of the 19th century passed by here. And the 900-metre wall here, one of the highest and most impressive in the Brenta, puts the toughest climbers to the test.

A more simple undertaking is to walk up to the Rifugio Croz dell’Altissimo, enticed by an appetite for the typical Trentino cuisine that the Spellini family, perennial wardens of this mountain hut, offer their visitors.

Walks
From the refuge it takes about 40 minutes to get to the Rifugio Selvata on the opposite side of the valley (difficulty E). Continuing along paths suitable for walkers of all abilities you can get to the Tosa and Tommaso Pedrotti refuges in 3 hours, difficulty E) and then on to the Bocca di Brenta (3 ½ hours, difficulty E).
