RIFUGIO LA MONTANARA

Below the pale blue waters of Lake Molveno, above the Brenta Dolomites: the views from the Rifugio La Montanara have something for everyone. From this scenic position you can seek out the slender profile of the Campanile Basso, which is usually hard to see, hidden among more commanding peaks, but which can be seen perfectly well from here. Run for over forty years by the Sartori family, the refuge is a favourite with children, too, (they can play in safety on the meadow) and with lovers of Trentino cuisine. Open Winter: open on weekends, starting from December 8th, during Christmas holidays and Easter. Spring: open on April 25th and on the following weekends. Summer: from late May to the first sunday in October the mountain hut is open every day Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks From Rifugio La Montanara you can ascend Croz dell’Altissimo in 2 ½ hours via Passo dei Lasteri (difficulty E). But you can also admire the imposing face of Croz dell’Altissimo from below if you make your way to the refuge of the same name at the end of the picturesque “Delle grotte” footpath (1 hour, difficulty E).
